How to be Considered:

  • The applicant must not be a citizen of Switzerland or an EU or EEC member country
  • You must have real estate in Malta -ownership of a property worth from EUR 220,000 – 275,000 or property rented
    at a price of at least EUR 8,750 / 9,600 per year
  • A continual and stable income
  • A minimum command of one of Malta’s official languages (English, Maltese)
  • Meeting requirements for trustworthiness
  • A health insurance policy
  • An application can be submitted only through a registered and accredited agent

Long-term Requirements:

  • You may not receive citizenship of Malta, an EU or EEC member country, or Switzerland
  • You must continually maintain real estate (under your own ownership or a rental agreement)
  • You may not become a permanent resident of Malta
  • You may not stay in any one other country for more than 183 days in a year
  • You must submit a tax return annually
